En3 involved in Green Education for School Students

Deepa Sathiaram, Executive Director of En3 and the National Environment Chair for CII’s Young Indians has ideated and organized an initiative to educate school students on the environment. Called as the “Green-I Contest” this initiative was spontaneously supported by Carrier India and aims to create awareness and encourage students to think about conservation and sustainability. Schools are given a topic every year on sustainability and the winning school gets a grant of Rs. 750,000 to implement various green measures within their own school campus. The 1st year’s winner set up a root zone waste water treatment system in their school of 8000 litres per day capacity to treat their sewage water and recycle the same for landscaping and other purposes. The last year’s winner have set up a roof garden as well as a rain water harvesting system to collect and store rain water for reuse as part of their green initiatives.
