FLSmidth is the leading supplier of equipment and services to the global cement and minerals industries. It is FLSmidth’s aim to contribute to environmental sustainability in fields where the Group has significant influence on the protection of the environment. A standing example of this is their corporate office in Chennai which was recently awarded the LEED Gold Certification. The FLSmidth House incorporates several green building measures including high efficiency chillers, VFD drives for pumps and air handlers, energy efficiency lighting, low flow water fixtures that reduce potable water consumption by over 40%, rain water harvesting within the campus, materials with recycled content and renewable content and low VOC materials in the interiors. A big feature for the building is over 75% of the regularly occupied areas have ample daylighting and over 90% of the areas have view to the outdoors. The building is a wonderful example of sustianability and FLSmidth House is now only one of the 35 buildings in India to achieve the prestigious LEED certification.
